Further Hotel: A New Perspective on Staying in Bali
An architectural retreat in Pererenan where contemporary design, neighbourhood culture and a different approach to hospitality come together.
Bali's hospitality scene continues to evolve, with a growing interest in places that offer more than beautiful accommodation. In Pererenan, a coastal neighbourhood near Canggu, Further Hotel introduces a different way of experiencing the island: one that brings guests closer to the everyday life, independent businesses and creative culture of its surroundings.
Conceived as a diffused hotel, Further is spread across four buildings rather than contained within a single resort. The concept brings together 25 guest suites, restaurants, coffee spaces and independent lifestyle brands, creating a hospitality experience that extends into the surrounding neighbourhood.
Architecture Rooted in Local Craft
Designed by architecture practice MORQ, with interiors by Studio Wenden, the hotel draws its identity from traditional Balinese craftsmanship interpreted through contemporary design.
Its defining feature is a series of handmade terracotta brick facades, produced in Tabanan, Bali. Arranged as permeable screens, the bricks filter natural light and provide shade, creating changing patterns throughout the day. Inside, warm materials, timber, travertine and understated detailing continue the architectural language.
The 25 suites follow the same considered approach, featuring sunken beds, private patios and, in selected rooms, plant-filled courtyards and outdoor bathing spaces.
Beyond the Traditional Hotel Experience
One of Further's highlights is its secluded rooftop pool, designed as an intimate tropical courtyard above the surrounding village. Here, Portion offers relaxed poolside dining, while Bar Vera brings the atmosphere of a European neighbourhood bistro to Pererenan.
The hotel's creative identity extends through collaborations with Oaken Lab, Object, Smile Clothing and Thomas Surfboards, bringing together fragrance, design, fashion and surf culture.

Discovering Pererenan, Bali
Located on Jalan Pantai Pererenan, the hotel offers access to a coastal neighbourhood known for its surf culture, independent cafés, restaurants and growing creative community. Less hectic than central Canggu, Pererenan offers a balance of contemporary lifestyle and local character, with the beach just a short distance away.
A Different Way to Stay
What makes Further Hotel particularly interesting is its approach to hospitality. Rather than creating a self-contained destination, it encourages guests to become part of the neighbourhood, discovering its spaces, people and everyday rhythms.
For travellers drawn to thoughtful architecture, independent dining and design-led accommodation, Further offers a compelling perspective on contemporary Bali hospitality.
Sometimes, experiencing a destination means looking beyond the hotel itself. At Further, that idea is built into the experience.
